THE CHAPTER OF THE CORPSES · 11 – PRAYING FOR A SICK PERSON TO BE HEALED DURING A VISIT
Sa'd's daughter Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) related that her father, Sa'd, said:
I fell ill in Mecca. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit me, placed his hand on my forehead, then stroked my chest and abdomen, and then said: “O Allah, grant healing to Sa’d. Complete his emigration.” [41]
Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said: “Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and manumit captives.” Sufyān said: ‘Anī means a captive. [42]
**Note:** Feeding the hungry, manumitting captives, are considered *kifāyah* obligations, just as the command to visit the sick is, according to some scholars, obligatory (*wājib*). According to others, it is recommended (*mandūb*).
