JIHAD SECTION · 52 – Riding an Animal That Eats Excrement
It was narrated on the authority of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he forbade riding an animal that eats excrement.
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) forbade riding a camel that eats dung.
EXPLANATION:
As eating the meat of an animal that has eaten dung is disliked unless it is kept confined for a specified period, so too is riding it without a saddle or bridle being disliked. This is because when such an animal sweats, its sweat smells of filth, and people find it repugnant. (Bezz-ul Majhūj, vol. 12, p. 55)
