THE CHAPTER OF THE DEAD · 73 – TO SEEK FORGIVENESS FOR A DECEASED PERSON BY THEIR GRAVE

Osman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would finish burying a deceased person and then stand by the grave and say, “Ask forgiveness for your brother and beseech that his response be facilitated; for he is now being questioned.”
COMMENTARY
One may always ask forgiveness for the deceased. However, asking forgiveness immediately after the burial of the deceased causes his response to be eased.
