SACRIFICIAL SECTION · 12 – TREAT THE ANIMAL TO BE SLAUGHTERED WITH KINDNESS
Sharad ibn Aws, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
I heard two characteristics from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: “Indeed, Allah has prescribed kindness in all matters. Even when you take retribution (through qisas or stoning), do so kindly.”
The narrator says, other than Muslim relates: “When you kill, kill well. And when you slaughter an animal, slaughter it well (and easily).” He said, "Let one of you sharpen his blade, and let him grant ease to the creature he slaughters."
Hisham ibn Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
We went to Anes, may Allah be pleased with him, and Hakim ibn Ayyub. They saw some young boys or children who had set up a hen as a target and were shooting arrows at it. Anes, may Allah be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade using animals as targets.
