Volume 3 – 91 – Offering Nabiz to Pilgrims
A man asked Ibn Abbas, “What is the matter with the people of this tribe? For they offer milk, honey, and roasted flour while being given wine (date juice). Are they stingy, or are they poor?”
Ibn Abbas replied, “We are neither stingy nor in need. But one day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon us while he was on his camel, and Usama ibn Zayd was with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked for something to drink. Wine (date juice) was brought, so he drank from it, and gave the remainder to Usama ibn Zayd, who drank. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “You have done well; continue in this manner thereafter.” So we do as such, and we do not wish to change what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded. [65]
