THE CHAPTER OF THE DEAD · 25 – WHEN CALAMITY STRIKES, REMAIN SEATED

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated:
When Zayd ibn Harithah, Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, and Abdullah ibn Rawha (may Allah be pleased with them all) were martyred, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) sat in the mosque. His grief was apparent. (Yahya bin Sa’id) continued the narration. [54]
COMMENTARY:
Sitting during a calamity indicates sadness due to that calamity. Signs of sorrow are most evident when one is seated.
