Yezid bin Shayban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
A man from the Ansar, Ibn-i Mirba, came to us while we were in a place at Arafat which Amr considered distant from the Imam’s standing place (waqfa).
Ibn-i Mirba said: “I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent to you. He commands you: ‘Perform your standing (waqf) in the places where you are located. You are following a practice upon the custom of your father, Abraham.’”
[Footnote] *’Irs* means inheritance, but it also signifies adhering to the practices and customs of those who came before. Because the standing at Arafat is the sunna (practice) of Abraham. The Quraysh abandoned this due to the innovation of Humus.
*Mashar* is the name for the places where Hajj rituals are performed. Its plural form is *mashar*, meaning you can perform your standing in the place where you are located. Because all of you are within the boundaries of Arafat. This honorable hadith serves as evidence that standing (waqf) is permissible in every area within the borders of Arafat.
