JIHAD CHAPTER · 38 – HE WHO SACRIFICES HIMSELF FOR GOD
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Our Lord, the Exalted, was astonished by the state of a man. He fought in the way of Allah, but his companions were destroyed. He knew his duty and turned back, fighting until his blood was shed. So Allah, the Exalted, commanded His angels, ‘Look at this slave of Mine; he returned from inclination towards Me and fear of My punishment until his blood was shed.’”
