Umar ibn Umayr, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated from his maternal uncle:

His maternal uncle asked Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, “I have a ward under my care; can I eat from his property?” Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, responded:

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "A person's most wholesome food is that which he earns himself. And a child is part of his parent’s provision.”

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said: "A child’s sustenance is from his father's wealth, even from his finest wealth. You may consume from their properties.”

Abu Dawud said: Hammad ibn Abi Sulayman added the words “when you are in need” in his narration, but this is objectionable.

Amr ibn Shu'ayb has narrated from his father on the authority of his grandfather:

A man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, “O Messenger of Allah! I have property, and I have a child. But my father will consume my property.”

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "You and your property belong to your father. Your children are among your finest gains. So take from their earnings." [294]
