It is narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Let not one of you eat from the middle of the container. Rather, let him eat from its edge (from before himself). Indeed, blessing descends upon the center of the food.”

Abdullah ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a cooking pot called a “garra,” which four men would carry. When the Muslims entered the day of Eid al-Adha and performed the Eid prayer, this pot was brought forth, containing cooked meat. The people gathered around it, and as the congregation increased, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ knelt down. A bedouin asked, "What is this sitting?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Allah has raised me as a generous one. He did not raise me as one who is obstinate or forceful.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Eat from around the edge of the pot and refrain from eating from the center so that there may be blessing in this food.” [429]
