Drinks Section · 14 – Drinking Water from the Mouth of an Unseen Vessel

According to a narration from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), he said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) forbade drinking from the mouth of a vessel, riding an animal that eats filth, and eating an animal which is shot for sport. [396]
Abu Dawud said: Jalala is the animal that consumes human excrement.
EXPLANATION
Drinking from the mouths of earthenware jars, gourds, and buckets is forbidden due to hygienic reasons. Riding an animal that eats human filth is prohibited because it emits a foul odor when it sweats. Eating an animal shot for sport is forbidden because once humans target and kill it, it becomes considered carrion.
