CHAPTER 1 – SECTION
Abū Sa’īd al-Hudrī (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) would, when renewing his garment – whether it was a tunic or a yellow cloak – name it, then say, “O Lord! All praise is to You. You have clothed me in this. I ask you for its goodness and the goodness intended in its making. And I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil intended in its making.”
The narrator, Abū Nadra, said: When someone among the companions put on a new garment, others would say to him, “Wear it out, so that Allah may grant you another one after it.”
A narration similar to the preceding hadith was transmitted through a chain of transmitters identical to that of Jarir.
It was narrated with the same meaning through a chain of transmitters identical to that of the preceding narration.
Sehl's father, Muaz bin Anas, has narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "If someone eats and then says, 'Praise be to Allah who has fed me and provided me with this sustenance without any power or ability of my own,' his past and future sins are forgiven. And if someone puts on new clothes and says, 'Praise be to Allah who has clothed me and provided me with this garment without any power or ability of my own,' his past and future sins are forgiven."
