CHAPTER 2 – HOW TO BLESS SOMEONE WEARING NEW CLOTHES
It is narrated from Ummu Khalid bint Khalid bin Sa’id al-As, may Allah be pleased with her:
That a garment with patterned designs was brought to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, asked, “To whom is this garment suitable?” The congregation fell silent. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded, "Bring me Ummu Khalid." She was brought. He had her wear the garment. Then he said twice: “May you wear it out on your back, and may Allah give you a new one in its place.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, looked at the red and yellow designs on the garment and said, "Senah, senah, O Ummu Khalid." The word *senah* is from the Habesha language and means “beautiful, beautiful (it suits you).”
