According to the report of his father, Abu al-Walid (Usama bin Umayr): A man freed a share he had in a slave and related this to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: “Allah has no partner; (this slave is) freed.”

In the narration transmitted by Ibn Kisir in his report, there is an addition: "He permitted the freeing of such a slave."

A person freed his share of a slave. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings upon him, permitted the freeing. And he indebted the one who freed [the slave] to pay for the other shares.

It is narrated on the authority of Katada, may Allah be pleased with him, with a chain of narration identical to that of the preceding hadith: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever emancipates a slave who was jointly owned with another person, then he must free the entire slave.” This is the wording of the narration of Ibn Suwayd.
