CHAPTER 7 – THE FEAST OF THOSE COMPETING WITH EACH OTHER
It is narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade two men from eating together who were competing in excellence by challenging each other to eat.
Abu Dawud said: Most of those who narrate this hadith from Jarīr do not mention Ibn ‘Abbas in this narration. Harun an-Nahawi mentioned Ibn ‘Abbas in his narration. Hammad bin Zayd did not mention Ibn ‘Abbas in his narration.
