CHAPTER 25 – THE FLESH AND MILK OF THE ANIMAL THAT EATS FILTH

According to the narration of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) forbade eating the meat and milk of an animal that eats filth.

It is narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him):

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) forbade eating the meat and milk of an animal that eats filth.

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) forbade riding a camel that has eaten filth, or drinking its milk.

Explanation: If the animal that has eaten filth is a camel, it should be kept confined for forty days; if it is cattle, twenty days; if it is sheep or goats, ten days; and if it is fowl, three days, after which its meat may be eaten and its milk drunk.
