CHAPTER 12 – PRESENCE OF A STAMP ON THE DRESS AND SILK THREAD
Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, the freed slave of Asma bint Abi Bakr, may Allah be pleased with her, related:
I saw Ibn Umar purchasing a garment woven in Damascus at the marketplace. He saw a red thread within it and returned it. Then I came to Asma and informed her of what Ibn Umar had done. Asma then ordered her female servant, “O slave girl, bring me the Prophet’s ﷺ cloak.” The slave girl brought forth a thick cloak worked with silk brocade on its pockets, lapels, and hem.
It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) forbade wearing garments made entirely of pure silk. However, there is no harm in having silk markings on a garment or if the embroidery of a garment is made of silk.
