CHAPTER 50 – THE MAID EATS WITH HER MASTER

Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said: "When one of you has a servant who prepares food for him and then brings it, let him sit with him to eat. For the servant is close to the heat and smoke of the food. And if the food is little, then let him put at least one or two morsels into his hand."

It is narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, صلى الله عليه وسلم, said: “Let none of you wipe his hand without licking it or having someone lick it (feed them), or wiping it with a cloth.”

From Ibn Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who reported from his father, Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him):
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) would not wipe his hand until he had eaten and licked his fingers with three fingers.
