SECTION 22 – DRAWING JUDGMENTS FROM THE STARS

It is narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, صلى الله عليه وسلم, said: “Whoever acquires knowledge from divining by the stars, has certainly taken a branch of magic. And as his knowledge increases, so does his involvement in it.”

Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the Fajr prayer for us after the rain that fell during the night at Hudaibiya. When he finished the prayer, he turned to the congregation and said: “Do you know what your Lord has said?” The companions replied: "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “My Lord has said: Some of My servants awoke this morning believing in Me, and some of them disbelieving Me. Those who say, ‘Rain fell upon us by the grace and mercy of Allah,’ believe in Me. And those who say, ‘Rain fell because of such and such a star,’ have disbelieved in Me and believed in the stars.” [509]
