3949 – It is narrated from Samura (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever comes to possess one of his maḥram (a close relative whose marriage is prohibited), that slave is free.” [529]

3950 – From Qatāda (may Allah be pleased with him), ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb said: Whoever comes to possess one of his maḥram (as a slave), that person is free.
