SECTION 5 – The Preferred Time for Taking Blood
On Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever takes a bloodletting on the seventeenth, nineteenth, and twenty-first [nights] of the month, he will find healing from all illnesses."
Keyyisa bintu Abi Bakr, may Allah be pleased with her, related:
Her father would forbid his family from having bloodletting done on Tuesday, and he would claim that Tuesday is a day of bleeding, and that there is an hour in that day when, if a wound is opened (in that hour), it will not close. He attributed this to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) would have cupping done on his hip for a pain.
[Note: *Ves’u* refers to bone pain, hip pain, or rheumatism.]
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) sent a physician to al-Ubayy, and the physician cut one of his arteries.
