LEASE SECTION · 80 – Whoever finds property belonging to another (takes it).
Semura ibn Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “If one finds the exact likeness of his stolen property with another, then he is entitled to take it. The purchaser takes his money from the seller.” [295]
EXPLANATION:
If someone’s property is stolen or forcibly taken and the thief sells it to another person, the owner of the property has the right to reclaim it. The one who purchased the property then finds the one who stole and sold it and takes his money from him.
