Khadija’s comfort and glad tidings began with sending men to search for the Prophet. These individuals searched as far above Mecca as possible, yet were unable to find him and subsequently returned.94 The Prophet, however, remained standing in his place. Upon the departure of Gabriel 95, the Prophet immediately returned home. Khadija prepared food for the Prophet and sent it with those who had been searching; they failed to locate him in the Cave of Hira. Consequently, she dispatched men to search at the homes of his uncles and paternal cousins.
Finding him nowhere, she became deeply concerned.96 When the Prophet arrived home, Khadija said, “O Abu al-Kasim! Where were you? I sent men to search for you; they searched as far above Mecca as possible but could not find you!” The Prophet recounted everything he had witnessed to her. As he described the events in his dream, which weighed heavily upon him, Khadija offered comfort: “You have glad tidings!97” Bidaya, 3/12. Kasir, Bidaya, 3/12.
