A Conversation Between Muslims and Hazrat Osman

When Osman returned from Mecca to Hudaybiyya, the Muslims said to him: “O Abu Abdullah! You must have performed tawaf of the Kaaba and cooled your heart?” Hz. Osman replied: “How much evil you suspect about me! I swear by Allah, whose power is in His hands, that if I had stayed in Mecca for a year and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had remained in Hudaybiyya, I would not have performed tawaf alone even if the Quraysh had allowed me to perform tawaf of the Kaaba! But I abstained from tawaf!” The Muslims then said: “By Allah, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) knows us better and suspects less about us!” [315]
