A Shade Structure for Our Prophet
Sa’d b. Mu’az: “O Prophet of Allah! We will make for you[115] a canopy from palm branches[116] in which you can stand. We will keep your mounts beside it. Then, we will encounter and fight our enemy. If Allah grants us power and strength against them—and that is what we desire—then how excellent! But if things turn out otherwise, you mount your steed, leave us behind, and reach those who are with us! O Prophet of Allah! They love you as much as we do. Many groups from among them have stayed behind. If they had known that you would be encountering war, they would never have stayed behind from you. Allah will protect you from them. They are devoted to you and strive in jihad by your side” he said. Our Prophet Aleyhisselam prayed for Sa’d b. Mu’az with blessings and goodness.[117] Our Prophet Aleyhisselam, along with Abu Bakr, entered this canopy and sat down.[118] Sa’d b. Mu’az stood with his sword drawn at the entrance of the canopy.[119]
