In 1401/1982, the text of Kitâbu’l-Mübtedâ ve’l-meb’as ve’l-megâzî- ’s contains three poems by Ebu Talib about this journey. These poems consist of 12,¹⁸ and 13 verses each, detailing their departure from Mecca, being hosted by Monk Bahira in Busra, and the names of the three Jews who attempted to assassinate our Prophet (peace be upon him). The poems also mention how this assassination attempt was thwarted by Monk Bahira. These events are narrated in these poems.⁴⁶⁸ These poems were known by Beyhakî (born: 384, died:⁴⁵⁸ Hijri), Ibn Asâkir (died:⁵⁷¹ Hijri), and Süheylî (born: 508, died:⁵⁸¹ Hijri).

In fact, Ibn Asâkir included the 12 and 18-verse poems in his book (Târîh, 1/272-273); Süheylî also recorded the first 9 verses of the 18-verse poem in Ravdu’l-ünüf’üne (2/227-228). Our Prophet (peace be upon him)
