Ebul-Heysem Malik b. Teyyihan's Final Speech
“Do you know that this person was sent to you as a prophet by Allah, and do you confirm it?” he asked. The Muslims of Medina said: “Yes! We know!” “Do you know that he resides in the Haram, that his birthplace is there, and that his family is also in the Haram?” he asked. “Yes! We know!” they said.61 “O my people! This is Allah’s Messenger! I bear witness to his truthfulness! Today, he is safe under the protection of his tribe and clan in Allah’s Harem.
Know this; when you take him and bring him to your side,62 all the Arabs will shoot at you with a single arrow because of him! Fighting in the way of Allah, losing your possessions, wives, and children is becoming distant from your hearts, if it pleases you—for indeed, the reward with Allah is better than your lives, possessions, wives, and children!6364 Invite him to your land! For he is truly Allah’s messenger! If you are afraid that you will not be able to help him in the future, then refrain from this now!65 If after taking and bringing him, at some point in time you leave him helpless or hand him over to his enemies, disaster will certainly befall you!” he said.
