From Muzdalifah to Mina
The polytheists would not return from Muzdalifa to Mina until the sun rose, and they would say: “O Mount Safa! Shine with the light of the sun!” [366] Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The Quraysh have acted contrary to the covenant of Abraham (peace be upon him). [367] The people of Jahiliyyah would disperse and return from Mash’ar al-Haram, Muzdalifa, when the sun had risen and the faces of men were like veils. But we will disperse and return from Muzdalifa before the sun rises! [368] And our sacrifice is contrary to that of the idolaters!” [369] Our Prophet (peace be upon him), taking Fadl b. Abbas with him, set out from Muzdalifa to Mina before sunrise[371] and proceeded on his way at a moderate pace. People were rushing from left and right, and our Prophet (peace be upon him) was saying to them: “Slow down, O people! Slow down!” [372] and he himself would not refrain from saying, “Here I am, O Allah, here I am…” making the talbiyah. [373]
