Müseylime’s Identity: The ancestors of Müseylime, who was from the Benî Hanîfe tribe, are listed as follows: Müseylime b. Sümâme,[142] b. Kebir, b. Cübeyr, b. Haris, b. Abdülhâris, b. Hıffan, b. Zühl, b. Dü’l, b. Hanîfe. Müseylime’s kunya is Ebu Sümâme or Ebu Harun. He was known as Rahmân, Rahmânü’l-Yemâme.[143] He was an ugly-faced, short man. [144] Müseylime traveled through markets and bazaars in Basra, Übülle near Hîre, Bekkâ near Belh, and Hîre near Küfe, seeking to acquire knowledge of magic, fortune-telling, and finding soothsayers and diviners to learn from them. [145] In the 10th year of Hijra,[146] Müseylime came with representatives of Benî Hanîfe to meet our Prophet (peace be upon him), converted to Islam, returned to Yemâme, and then apostatized.[147][148]
