Prophet Muhammad's Response to Umar's Offer

Ömer: “O Messenger of Allah! Let me strike the neck of Ibn Ü beyy. O Messenger of Allah! If you do not find it appropriate for one of the Muhajirun to kill him, then order Sa’d b. Muaz or Muhammed b. Mesleme to do so! They will kill him![21] Or, order; let Abbâd b. Bişr go and kill him!” he said. Our Prophet Aleyhisselam: “How can this be, O Ömer! Who is this?! People will say among themselves, ‘Muhammad’s companions are killing each other!?’ No! I will not do such a thing! You immediately call the Muslims to prepare for their journey!” he commanded. Upon this, the Muslims left their places and set off.[22]
