The Arrival of Ali from Yemen to Mecca
Previously, Hz. Ali had been sent to Yemen. [165] Hz. Ali came from Yemen to Mecca with the zakat camels belonging to our Prophet (peace be upon him). He found Hz. Fatima among those who had exited ihram. Hz. Fatima was wearing a dyed dress and had applied kohl to her eyes. Although Hz. Ali did not approve of this, Hz. Fatima said, ‘My father ordered me to do this!’ Hz. Ali went to our Prophet (peace be upon him) to reprimand Hz. Fatima for this and to ask about what our Prophet (peace be upon him) had told her. When informed about what Hz. Fatima had done, our Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, ‘Did you not say when you intended to perform Hajj?’ Hz. Ali said, ‘O Allah! I intended whatever Your Messenger intended!’ Our Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered, ‘I have a sacrifice with me. You also exit ihram!’ [166] The day before the Day of Sacrifice,* after the Dhuhr prayer, [167] our Prophet (peace be upon him) stood between the Station of Abraham and the Black Stone and delivered the sermon he intended: ‘Whoever among you is able to perform the Dhuhr prayer at Mina, let them do so!’ [168] Our Prophet (peace be upon him) covered the Kaaba with a cloth made from striped Yemeni fabric.
