The Arrival of Hazrat Ali in Kuba
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had ordered Hazrat Ali to stay in Mecca until he returned the trusts left with him by the polytheistic Quraysh to their owners. He stayed in Mecca for three days and nights for this purpose.[71] Standing in the valley of Mecca, he called out: “Whoever has a trust with the Messenger of Allah, come forward, I will return your trust!” After distributing the trusts to their owners,[72] he set off towards Medina.[73] He walked at night and hid during the day.[74] Around the middle of Rabi’ al-Awwal, he arrived in Quba.[75] When he arrived in Quba, his feet were swollen, bruised, and bleeding. Upon hearing that Hazrat Ali had arrived, our Prophet (PBUH) said: “Bring Ali to me!” They said, “O Messenger of Allah! He cannot walk!” Our Prophet (PBUH) immediately stood up and went to him. Seeing his condition, he wept out of mercy and compassion, embraced him, rubbed his feet with his hands, and prayed to Allah for his recovery. Thus, Hazrat Ali was left with no hardship.[76]
