The Arrival of the Bani Barik Delegation in Medina and Their Conversion to Islam
The Banu Barik are from the tribe of Azd, descendants of Qahtan. [416] The ancestral lineage of the Banu Barik is as follows: Banu Barik, Sa’d b. Adiyy, b. Harith, b. Salaba, b. Amr Muzaqiya. [417] Representatives of the Banu Barik came to Medina. When our Prophet (PBUH) invited them to Islam, they immediately became Muslims and pledged allegiance to our Prophet (PBUH). May Allah be pleased with them! Our Prophet (PBUH) wrote a document for the Banu Barik, had it written down. In his writing he said: “The fruit trees of the Banu Barik will not be cut down! Unless they wish otherwise, their animals will graze in the spring and summer pastures where rain falls! They are obligated to host any Muslims who come to them for three days during times of war or famine. When their fruits ripen, travelers may fill their stomachs with those that fall to the ground, on condition that they do not pick, cut, or gather them from the branches. Abu Ubaydah b. Jarrah and Huzaifa b. Yaman were witnesses, and Ubayy b. Ka’b wrote it down.” [418]
