The Earthquake Prayer
In the fifth year of Hijra, the earth shook in Medina. [131] The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Indeed, your Lord wants to return you to a state that pleases Him. So, seek His pleasure.”[132] It is reported that Abdullah b. Abbas performed the earthquake prayer with four prostrations and two bowings in Basra, comparing it to the prayers for solar and lunar eclipses.[133]
