The Prophet's Blessing of Mu'az b. Jabal
While there were some Muhajirun and Ansar with him, as well as some young men from Quraysh and outside of it, our Prophet (Peace be upon him) went out to bid farewell to Muaz b. Jabal. [312] Muaz b. Jabal was riding an animal, while our Prophet (Peace be upon him) was walking beside him on foot.[313] He gave him some advice. [314] Muaz b. Jabal said: “O Messenger of Allah! I am mounted while you are on foot! Can’t I dismount and walk with you and your companions?” Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, “O Muaz! I hope for reward from Allah for these steps that I take in His path!” [315]
