The Prophet's (PBUH) Insistence on Distributing Dinars to the Poor and His Advice to His Daughter and Sister-in-Law
On the day of his passing,[282] Hazrat Aisha had six or seven dinars (gold lira) by her side. Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) had instructed her to distribute them among the poor. However, Hazrat Aisha had not yet distributed them due to being occupied with our Prophet’s illness. Our Prophet asked Hazrat Aisha: “What did you do with the six or seven dinars? Did you distribute them among the poor?” She replied, “No! By Allah, your illness kept me busy and preoccupied!” Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) had them brought to him, took them in his hand, and said: “The Prophet of Allah, Muhammad, would not expect to meet his Lord while keeping these with him without having distributed them among the poor!” [283] After distributing all of them among five households from the poor Ansar, he said: “Now I am at ease!” and fell asleep. [284] Imam Kastalani says regarding this: “If our Prophet (Peace be upon him), the beloved of the Lord of the Worlds, whose past and future sins have been forgiven, acts in such a manner, then consider the state of those Muslims who meet Allah while having the blood of other Muslims and unlawful wealth on their hands!” [285]
