The Prophet's Prayer for Ali
Our Prophet (PBUH) called out to Hazrat Ali: “Come closer!”[202] Hazrat Ali said: “O Messenger of Allah! You see that I am in a state where I cannot even see the place my feet are stepping on!”[203] Our Prophet (PBUH) spat into Hazrat Ali’s aching eyes and rubbed them with his hands.[204][205] He also prayed to the Almighty Allah for healing. The pain vanished instantly! Hazrat Ali’s eyes were as if they had never hurt![206] Hazrat Ali said: “O Messenger of Allah (PBUH), when my eyes were hurting and I was brought to you, I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! My eyes are hurting!’ After spitting on my eyes, you prayed: ‘O Allah! Remove the discomfort of heat and cold from this.’ From that day onwards, I have never been bothered by either heat or cold!”[207] Indeed, Hazrat Ali would wear the thickest clothes on the hottest days and not be affected by the heat. On the coldest days, he would wear the thinnest clothes and not feel the cold. When asked about the reason, he would say that our Prophet (PBUH) had prayed for him regarding this matter in Hayber.[208]
