The Prophet's Request to Write About Abu Bakr
During a time when his illness worsened, he said to Abdurrahman b. Ebu Bekir: “Bring me pen and paper so that I may write (dictate) something about Ebu Bekir, so that there will be no dispute regarding him!” When Abdurrahman b. Ebu Bekir stood up to bring the pen and paper, he said: “Sit down! Neither Allah nor the Muslims would approve of a dispute regarding Ebu Bekir!” [123] Then, he said to Hz. Aisha: “Call your father Ebu Bekir and your brother, so that I may write (dictate) something. For I fear that someone eager might rush ahead saying: ‘I will be the first to do this!’ But indeed, neither Allah nor the believers would approve of anyone other than Ebu Bekir!” [125] When our Prophet (PBUH) said “Call Ebu Bekir for me” he had called Hz. Omar. Our Prophet (PBUH), upon regaining consciousness again repeated: “Call Ebu Bekir for me!” They called Hz. Omar once more. Thereupon, our Prophet (PBUH) said: “Perhaps you are also like the women who were with Yusuf Aleyhisselam!” [126]
