The Reason for the Expedition
1- Hun b. Hüzeyme b. Müdrike lineage, some people from the Adal and Kare tribes, came to Medina and said: “O Messenger of Allah! Islam has started to spread in our tribe. Send some of your companions with us so that they may teach us religious knowledge, recite and explain the Qur’an, and teach us Islamic law!”[41] 2- Abu Sufyan b. Harb, the leader of the polytheistic Quraysh; separated from Hamra’ul-Asad and went to Mecca, encountered a caravan belonging to the sons of Abdulkays and sent a message to our Prophet (peace be upon him): “We have decided to march against him and his companions and uproot them!”[42] Our Prophet (peace be upon him), in order to be informed in time whether the polytheistic Quraysh were preparing any military action against the Muslims,[43] intended to send some of his companions as spies to the Mecca region.[44] Therefore, our Prophet (peace be upon him) accepted the request of those who came from the Adal and Kare tribes and said they had become Muslim, to send religious teachers to their tribes.[45]
