ʿAbd al-Ghāfir b. Ismāʿīl b. ʿAbd al-Qādir b. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Ghāfir b. Aḥmad b. Saʿd al-Ḥārisī. He was a ḥadīth ḥāfiẓ (memorizer of ḥadīth). He took fiqh lessons from the Imām al-Hāramayn. From his mother’s father, Abū al-Qāsim al-Kushayrī, he heard and transmitted many ḥadīths. He traveled to various regions with the purpose of collecting ḥadīth. He transmitted ḥadīth. He authored the work al-Mufham fī Gharīb al-Muslim and other works. He served as a khāṭīb (preacher) in Nishapur. He was a virtuous, pious person and a ḥadīth ḥāfiẓ.
