ʿAbd al-Karīm b. ʿAbd al-Karīm b. Būdayl Abū'l-Faḍl al-Ḥuzāʾī al-Jūrjānī. He came to Baghdad and there narrated ḥadīth.
Al-Ḥāṭib al-Baghdādī said: “ʿAbd al-Karīm was concerned with the knowledge of qirāʾāt (Qurʾānic readings) and compiled works regarding the isnāds (chains of transmission) of ḥadīth. Then, it is reported that he became confused in these matters and lost reliability in his narrations. He fabricated a book concerning letters and attributed it to Abū Ḥanīfa. According to the written statements of a group with al-Dārakutnī, this book is fabricated and baseless.”
After this, ʿAbd al-Karīm’s true nature was revealed. He left Baghdad and went to Jabal, where his situation became known to all and his house was besieged. Previously, he had given himself the name Jamīl, but later he began to use the name Muḥammad.
