ʿAbdullāh b. Ismāʿīl b. Ibrāhīm b. ʿĪsā b. Jāʿfar b. Abī Jāʿfar al-Manṣūr al-Hāshimī. He was an imām. He was known by the name Ibn Būwayh. He was born in the year 263 AH. He narrated ḥadīth from Ibn Abī al-Dunyā and others. Ibn Rizqawayh also narrated ḥadīth from him. He served as a khāṭīb (preacher) for a long time at the Mansūr Mosque. At that mosque, he was a khāṭīb for the entire year in 330 AH and the year before that. Then, in 330 AH, he delivered the khutba (sermon) of al-Wāsiq there. Both reach Mansūr equally in terms of lineage.
ʿAbdullāh b. Ismāʿīl passed away in the month of Ṣafar of that year.
