ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar b. Aḥmad b. Mujmī b. Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā b. Mabid b. Ḥazarmard Abū Muḥammad al-S̲h̲arīfīnī. He was known by the name Ibn Muʿallim. He was one of the famous ḥadīth ʿulamāʾ (scholars). Because he lived a long life, he transmitted narrations from many ḥadīth scholars. Through the chain of Ibn Ḥibbān, he narrated ḥadīth from Abū Qāsim al-Bagawī, and through his chain from ʿAlī b. Jaʿd, from whom we also heard ḥadīth. Due to this distinction, people came from other countries and cities to listen to ḥadīth from him. Many ḥadīth memorizers, including Ḥātib al-Baghdādī, listened to ḥadīth from him. He was trustworthy, his conduct was praiseworthy, and he was a person with a pure qalb (heart). He passed away in al-Jumādā al-ʾAwwal of this year at the age of eighty-five in Sharifīn.
