He was a trader. He was known as Ibn Shuhadāʾ al-Makkah (the son of the martyrs of Mecca). He was from Baghdad. He heard many ḥadīths. He traveled to many regions for the purpose of collecting ḥadīths. While in Sūr, he heard many ḥadīths from al-Ḥātib al-Baghdādī. Al-Ḥātib had sent him to Iraq. For this reason, al-Ḥātib gifted him my work titled Tārīkh al-Baghdād (History of Baghdad) in his own handwriting and also narrated from him in some of his compilations. Al-Ḥātib had given him the name ʿAbdullāh. ʿAbdulmuhsin b. Aḥmad was among the trustworthy rawīs (transmitters).
