ʿAbdulvehhab b. Muḥammad b. ʿAbdulvehhab b. ʿAbdulwāḥid b. Muḥannamed al-Shīrāzī al-Fārisī. He listened to many ḥadīths. He learned fiqh. Nizām al-Mulk appointed him as a professor at the Nizāmiyya Madrasa in Baghdad in the year 483 AH. He taught there for a while. He had ḥadīths written down. He had many written. On one occasion, he narrated the ḥadīth with the meaning, “Performing prayers consecutively will be recorded in the Illiyyīn layer of Paradise.” Then he began to interpret it by saying, “It will be recorded in the darkness (gilsa).” That is, just as a light recorded in darkness illuminates it, so too the prayers performed consecutively will illuminate a person’s place in Paradise more brightly.
