Ahmed b. Jaʿfar b. Ahmed b. Muḥammad Abū'l-ʿAbbās ad-Dabībī, al-Bay* al-Wāsiṭī. He was a scholar of literature and a virtuous person. He composed both poetry and prose. He was knowledgeable in history and sīra (Prophetic biography). He possessed truly excellent books. He had commented on a qaṣīda (ode) of Abū'l-ʿAlāʾ al-Maʿarrī in three volumes. Ibn Saʿī transmitted one of his eloquent, sweet, delightful poems that pleased both the ear and the qalb (heart).
