Ahmed b. Muḥammad b. Ḥasan b. Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm b. Ayyūb Bakr al-Fūrakī. He is the grandson of the master Abū Bakr b. Fūrak. He settled in Baghdad. He used to deliver sermons to people at the Nizāmiyya madrasa. Because of him, discord arose among the madhāhib (legal schools).
Ibn al-Jawzī said: “Ahmed b. Muḥammad preferred the world. He did not refrain from wearing silk garments. He collected the coal tax. He left enmity between the Ḥanbalīs and the Ashʿarīs. He died this year at over sixty years of age and was buried next to the grave of al-Ashʿarī in Mashrāʿat al-Zāwiya.”
