His kunyah (teknonym) is Abū Ḥāmid al-Sharqī. He was born in the year 240 AH. He was a great ḥadīth ḥāfiẓ (memorizer of ḥadīth) with a strong memory and many ḥadīth in his memorization, of high rank, and he performed ḥajj many times.
He traveled to various cities with the purpose of collecting ḥadīth. He visited many places and listened to ḥadīth from great ḥadīth scholars.
One day, Ibn Kuzaynah, looking at him, said: "The being alive of Abū Ḥāmid prevents people from ascribing falsehoods to the Rasūlullāh (peace and blessings be upon him)."

His kunyah is Abū'l-Ḥasan al-Ḥazzāz. He was a grammarian (nahiwī). He heard ḥadīth from Mubarrad and Saʿlab. He is a trustworthy (ṣīka) narrator. He has many beneficial works concerning the sciences of the Qurʾān.
