Alaaddin Ali b. Muhammed

Alaaddin Ali b. Muhammed b. Osman b. Ahmed b. Ebi'l-Müna b. Muhammed b. Nihle was from Damascus. He belonged to the Shafiʿi madhhab (legal school). He was born in the year 658 AH. He studied the Muharrerī. He attended the lessons of Shaykh Zayn al-Dīn al-Fāriqīnī. He taught at the Dūlayya and Rukniyya madrasas. He was the supervisor of the Bayt al-Māl (public treasury). He built a beautiful house adjacent to the Rukniyya Madrasa. He passed away in the month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal. After him, Qāḍī Jamāl al-Dīn b. Jumla taught at the Dūlayya Madrasa, and Qāḍī Rukn al-Dīn al-Khurāsānī taught at the Rukniyya Madrasa.
