He was a devout and taqwa (God-consciousness) possessing person. Among the zahids (ascetics), he was one of the walī (friend[s] of God) endowed with karāma (a saintly wonder). His maqām (spiritual station) is in Jazīrat Ibn ʿUmar. In his work al-Kāmil, Ibn al-ʿAsīr said: "Regarding his beautiful character, conduct, karāmāt (miracles), and worship, I have not seen his equal."
